UCFSin collaboration with the International Institute of Metropolitan Detroit provides numerous onsite support services creating a pathway to success and self-sufficiency.
8 Week Computer Training – assisted individuals with understanding basic computer operations and software applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint along with helping clients create their own email accounts and educating them on the importance of online security.
Work Readiness and Job Placement – offered employment counseling and information on how to obtain a job, trained individuals on resume writing, and effective job searching. Our Job Placement Specialist developed many new relationships with area employers throughout the community and facilitated successful placement of many individuals in need of work into jobs. Education and accreditation assistance for individuals with previous professional licenses was offered in certain cases.
Financial Empowerment – Financial coaches assisted clients to improve money managements skills and helped build their assets portfolio for a stable future. Individuals also participated in a credit building program to build their FICO credit score.
Citizenship Instruction – prepared individuals for the U.S. Naturalization process by preparing them for the citizenship test and interview.
Immigration Legal Assistance – On site immigration attorneys assisted clients with maintaining legal status in the U.S., renewing non-immigrant visas, and providing adjustment of status and naturalization application assistance.
English As A Second Language Classes – were offered three times weekly so that individuals learn the English language which will help them assimilate into American culture.
